GmailHarvest ("the Extension", "we", "our") is a Chrome Extension that helps you search Gmail threads and extract structured data for export. This Privacy Policy explains what data we access, how we use it, and what we never do with it.
1. Data We Access
The Extension requests the following permissions:
- Gmail (read-only): We read email thread content—subject lines, message bodies, and sender/recipient metadata—solely to fulfil your search and extraction request.
- Identity: We obtain your Google account email address via the Chrome identity API to authenticate Gmail API requests and to check your subscription status.
- Storage: We save your daily usage counter and saved searches locally in
chrome.storage.localon your device only. - Tabs: We open new browser tabs when you click upgrade links or when the extension dashboard is launched.
2. How We Use Your Data
- Email content is sent to an AI API for data extraction and is not stored by us after the response is returned to your browser.
- Your email address is sent to our license server (
gmail-harvest.onrender.com) to verify your subscription tier. We store only your email, tier, and subscription status—no email content. - Usage counts and settings are stored locally on your device and are never transmitted to our servers.
3. Data Sharing
Email content is transmitted to an AI inference API solely to process your explicit extraction request. That API operates under its own privacy policy. No email content is logged or retained by GmailHarvest.
4. Data Retention
- Email content: Never stored. Processed in memory during extraction, then discarded.
- License records: Email address, tier, and subscription status are retained on our license server for as long as you maintain an active subscription. You may request deletion at any time.
- Local data: Settings, saved searches, and usage counters remain in your browser's local storage until you uninstall the Extension or clear it manually.
5. Security
All communication between the Extension and external services uses HTTPS. AI extraction is performed server-side using a secured API key that never leaves our backend.
6. Children's Privacy
GmailHarvest is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
7. Changes to This Policy
If we make material changes to this policy we will update the effective date above. Continued use of the Extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
